Watching Easterly Heathrow Departures

When the wind blows out the East, Heathrow uses the Southern Runway for departures (known as 09R). This has the effect that to avoid flying over central London, aircraft take off and make a turn to the left over Wembley and follow the M35 to the East, or M1 to the North. Those turning right make a gentle correction and aim for Gatwick and then fly East to Dover. Finally the US bound departures make a 140-160 degree right turn, at low altitude producing some very good opertunities for pictures like below. Have a look at more of these shots on my site at www.plane-sight-images.photshelter.com contained in the Heathrow Winter 2012 folder.

Flying on Titan B757

A very nice flight had from Titan Airways B757-200 G-ZAPX flying from LHR-EDI on behalf on British Airways, this is the view from Seat 5A on the decent into Edinburgh. After a quick hour of flying we were already in the decent, while i finished the hot breakfast. Well worth flying BA just to get a hot breakfast on Morning services. Anyone factroing in costs vs Easyjet or Cityjet on the route from London to EDI should also considder that there are no bag costs and allocated seating on BA.

The second shot is while on Downwind for EDI clearly visable are the Forth Road and Rail bridges as well as the suburbs of Edinburgh. For more images like these log onto www.plane-sight-images.photoshelter.com

G-ZAPX

So sat aboard the sub for BA, operation in GZAPX of Titan airways, a charter company in Stansted STN. Amazingly I've chartered this plane many times but never flown it, so always nice to see what I pay for! MP
